A Tale of Two Soldiers

At the December 2019 meeting and luncheon we were honored to have featured speaker Compatriot Spike Speicher regale us with the “Tale of Two Soldiers”, a story of two Civil War soldiers, one Confederate and one Union, and how they interacted with the “War Between the States”. His Tale was derived from letters both soldiers wrote at the time. Spike also brought in the original letters, part of his collection, and shared them with us.
Joint SAR-DAR Meeting

In commemoration of Constitution Week, the St. Petersburg and Tampa Chapters of the NSSAR sponsored a special joint SAR-DAR meeting at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club on September 14, 2019. Mr. Joseph Hardesty, Head Librarian / Director of the NSSAR Library in Louisville, Kentucky was the featured speaker. He spoke about the library as a “Treasure Trove for Researchers” and outlined updates and improvements to the search system. South Shore compatriots Gordon Bassett and Bill Bolin attended the luncheon meeting.
